The training was led by the invited expert, representative of the regional office of UNWOMEN, Fumi Nakamura.

Representatives of relevant governmental and non-governmental organizations, alongside with acquiring theoretical knowledge, worked intensely on refinement of the goals and objectives of the AP. The international standards-compliant assessment indicators of relevant goals and objectives were also elaborated.

With the support of the UNWOMEN, elaboration and monitoring of the implementation of the said AP is conducted by Inter-Agency Council Implementing Measures to Eliminate Domestic Violence in Georgia, chaired by the Assistant of the Prime Minister for Human Rights and Gender Equality Affairs, Sopo Japaridze.

The National Action Plan on the Measures to be implemented for Combatting Domestic Violence and Protection of and Assistance to the Victims of Domestic Violence for 2013-2015 was limited to the topic of domestic violence, as opposed to the AP for 2016-2017, which will cover violence against women as well. The inclusion of latter aspect to the AP was conditioned with signing of Istanbul Convention. Respective instrument expands the obligations of the Georgian Government under the AP.
