Our Government which acknowledges that freedom, equality and justice are in Georgian genetics, aims at the protection of human rights of all individuals. Today we are guarantee of the protection of human rights which we provide through the strategy and action plan of human rights adopted last year. This is the first unified strategic document where the main directions of the protection of human rights are provided for. Moreover, we are proud of antidiscrimination law, which was recently adopted and sets out the detailed description of the issues of the protection of human rights of all Georgian Citizens," - stated the Prime Minister in his speech at the reception.

Based on Irakli Garibashvili's assessment this is huge step towards strengthening the Rule of Law in Georgia.

"For celebrating our progress, in New York, at the meeting of UN General Assembly, Georgia for the first time in history has been elected as a member of United Nations Human Rights Council. We take this responsibility very seriously, and have strongly decided to make our contribution to the process of ensuring the human rights in the word. As Martin Luther King was stating - "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere". Although we achieved serious progress throughout last three years, we have still a lot of work ahead. Our Government has soundly decided to ensure the protection of human rights. We promise to work even more effectively in order to achieve further success", - The Prime Minister addressed the guests gathered at the reception.

On December 10 the world is celebrating the international day of the protection of human rights. This date is connected to the adoption of the International Declaration of Human Rights on UN General Assembly on December 10, 1948.
